Global Security, Ethics & Peace Working Group

The Global Security, Ethics, and Peace Working Group examines how emerging technologies intersect with international security, ethical governance, and global stability. As technologies such as artificial intelligence and cyber capabilities reshape geopolitical dynamics, responsible governance and ethical frameworks are becoming essential to maintaining peace and stability. This working group focuses on practical analysis of security and ethical implications of emerging technologies and contributes regular insights to inform global policy discussions.

 

Objectives

  • Examine the ethical and security implications of emerging technologies

  • Explore governance approaches that support responsible and secure technology adoption

  •  Analyze emerging norms related to AI, cyber operations, and autonomous systems

  • Produce policy insights that support international dialogue

Background and Experience

Working group members are selected based on demonstrated interest or expertise in global security, ethics, technology governance, or related fields. Applicants typically have experience in areas such as:

  • International security or cyber policy

  • Technology ethics or AI governance

  • International relations or diplomacy

  • Academic research or policy analysis

  • Professional experience in government, international organizations, or think tanks

 

Participation Expectations

Working group members participate in collaborative discussions and contribute to short outputs that support Cyber Institute initiatives. Typical expectations include:

  • Participation in virtual discussions or roundtables

  • Contributing short insights, policy notes, or research inputs

  • Supporting working group initiatives and publications when relevant

Members are typically expected to contribute to one or two outputs per quarter.
